Multiple movie genres have inspired fashion, but the one that stands out the most is horror. The fashion designers that have shown the largest appreciation of horror in fashion are Alexander McQueen, Thom Browne, and Gareth Pugh. Their devotion to horror inspires other designers to do small homages to horror movies in fashion shows. Scroll to see a few here:
Alexander McQueen found inspiration with the movie Jack the Ripper to the point of making a fashion show in 1992. It shocked every person in the room due to the darkness, anguish, and gory outfits.

For the fall/winter 2006 fashion show, a Japanese fashion designer, Junya Watanabe, did a
representation of Hellraiser. The spiked headgear was constructed with electrical tape and spiky
silver studs to give it that despairing appearance.

A memorable scene from The Shining was the two dead twin girls in the middle of the hall. The
scene has been mentioned in other works but was never introduced to the catwalk until the
Undercover Spring/Summer 2018 fashion show. Jun Takahashi, the creator of the show, had a
fascination with the aspects of horror. It wasn’t his first time adapting the genre to his work.
It’s rare for Gucci to venture into the horror genre, but when they do, it’s unforgettable.
Alessandro Michele signed up to do a show with Gucci and decided to have models carry a
decapitated head. People can find this style similar to the film Grotesque.
The latest fashion show to perform the genre was Jeremy Scott for his 2020 collection. His vision for the catwalk was to implement the film Scream, specifically the one starring Drew Barrymore.
